A spirited gathering of young voices echoed through the halls of the National Assembly of Zambia as the Junior Members of Parliament from different constituencies assembled for the Second Edition of the Fourth Session of the Junior Parliamentary Assembly.

The aspiring parliamentarians delivered powerful debates cantered on the theme: “Urge the Government to demonstrate its commitment to increasing and prioritising budgetary investments in quality education and healthcare services for all children.”

The Right Honourable Ms. Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, SC., MP, FAPRA, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia arrived in Mpika District of the Muchinga Province on Tuesday, 26^th August, 2025 ahead of her five-day tour of Constituency Offices in the province.   

The National Assembly of Zambia regrets to announce the passing of Mr. Edward Chabilakale Chisangano, father to the First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Malungo A. Chisangano, MP.

Mr. Chisangano passed away on Wednesday, 20th August, 2025, after an illness. His passing is a profound loss not only to his family, but also to the extended parliamentary family.

In her message of condolence, the Speaker of the National Assembly expressed deep sorrow and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the First Deputy Speaker and her family.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt Honourable Nelly B.K. Mutti, SC, FAPRA, MP, has reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to deepening ties with the State of Israel following a courtesy call by Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gideon Sa’ar, at Parliament Buildings in Lusaka on Wednesday, 20^th August 2025.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Chairperson of the International Executive Committee, Dr. Christopher Kalila, MP has hailed the theme of the ongoing 54^th CPA Africa Region Conference calling it an urgent one. He was speaking during the Official Opening of the 54^th CPA Africa Region Conference in Banjul, The Gambia on 13^th August, 2025.

The Right Honourable Ms. Nelly B.K Mutti, MP, SC., FAPRA, Speaker of the National Assembly, has called on Parliaments to be proactive in efforts to address global challenges such as conflicts, climate change, inequality and growing threats to democracy which have continued to strain the foundations of global peace and justice.

The National Assembly Football Club made history as it hosted its first Fundraising Aerobics Mania held at Parliament Grounds in Lusaka on Saturday, 26^th July, 2025. This event was dedicated to promoting fitness, wellness and healthy living among Members of Parliament, Staff and stakeholders.  The event under the theme, “Healthy People, Stronger Zambia” attracted a remarkable turnout from various organisations, underscoring the growing emphasis on physical and mental well-being.

Honorable Malungo Chisangano, MP and First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, concluded her tour of Central Province constituencies with a nationwide appeal for tree planting. The tour which ran from 18th to 21st July 2025 was intended to engage with Constituency Office staff and promote the tree planting initiative. Bwacha Parliamentary Constituency Office was the first stop on the itinerary.

In a show of support for women’s football and youth empowerment, the Nelly Mutti Foundation has donated a full set of football equipment to the National Assembly Women’s Football Team. The donation included home and away jerseys, socks, and soccer balls — a boost aimed at equipping the team for both success and professionalism on the pitch.

The handover ceremony was graced by the Speaker of the National Assembly and founder of the Nelly Mutti Foundation, Rt. Hon. Nelly Mutti, MP, who personally handed over the kit to the team.
