The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Chairperson, Dr. Christipher Kalila, MP says the theme for this year’s Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) which is “The Commonwealth: A Global Partner”, could not be more timely.  He said in a world where challenges transcend borders, from climate change to economic uncertainty, from inequality to democratic instability, partnership is no longer optional, it is essential.

Zambia and United Arab Emirates: A Growing Economic Alliance

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Chairperson, Dr. Christopher Kalila, MP on Wednesday 17th September, 2025 addressed Scottish Parliamentarians during their CPA Branch Annual General Meeting to provide clarity on the work of the CPA. Dr Kalila stated that the CPA’s mission is to strengthen parliamentary democracy throughout the Commonwealth by supporting legislatures to be effective, inclusive and independent. He said the organisation does this by promoting good governance, sustainable development and human rights.

President Hichilema Officially Opens The 5th Session Of The 13th National Assembly

President Hakainde Hichilema has officially opened the fifth session of the Thirteenth National Assembly with a pledge to revive and stabilize the economy. The President has highlighted energy diversification, food security and job creation as key priority areas in fostering sustainable economic development.

In his address to Parliament themed: “Consolidating economic and social gains towards a prosperous, resilient and equitable Zambia”, President Hichilema said that the Government has made positive strides in its social and economic transformation agenda.
