The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt Hon Dr Nelly B K Mutti, SC., MP, FAPRA has reaffirmed Parliament’s commitment to advancing Zambia’s public health agenda following a high-level consultative meeting with a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) led by the Country Representative to Zambia Dr Clement Peter Lasuba.

In accordance with Articles 8, 9 and 86 of the Constitution of Zambia, which provide for the President to report to Parliament and the nation on the country’s progress in the application of National Values and Principles, the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr Hakainde Hichilema, today addressed the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly.

The Rt Hon Madam Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Dr Nelly Mutti, SC, MP, FAPRA has joined other Speakers of Parliament to call for reform in the United Nations, enhanced collaboration between Parliaments and the UN as well as openness of members states to support a female candidate for the position of the next Secretary General of the United Nations.

The National Assembly on Saturday 7th February, 2026, hosted the Fair Play Integrity Torch Relay leading to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, spreading a message of peace, unity and environmental responsibility.

Signalling a bold departure from decades of economic dependency, Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama delivered a high-stakes address to the National Assembly of Zambia on the 5^th of February, 2026, unveiling a visionary blueprint he termed the “Accra Reset.”

Speaking when he addressed the National Assembly, Mahama challenged African leaders to move beyond political goodwill and secure genuine economic emancipation by asserting sovereignty over their natural resources and domesticating financial reserves.

The First Deputy Speaker, of the National Assembly of Zambia,Hon. Malungo Chisangano, MP,  is in Dodoma, United Republic of Tanzania, on an official benchmarking visit to the National Assembly of Tanzania.

As part of the visit, Hon. Chisangano paid a courtesy call on her counterpart, Hon. Daniel Baran Sillo, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, on Monday, 2ndFebruary, 2026. The engagement emphasised the strong and long-standing parliamentary relations between Zambia and Tanzania.

The Right Honourable Dr. Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, SC., MP, FAPRA, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, met with the Speaker of the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha), Shri Om Birla on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC).

Speaker Mutti expressed delight that Zambia and India continue to enjoy cordial bilaterial relations for over 60 years, a feat which she said underscores the depth and resilience of the partnership.

He was speaking this morning during the official opening of the 28th Conference of speakers and presiding officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) in New Delhi, India.

She said this when the Indian High Commissioner to Zambia, His Excellency Mr Shri Alok Ranjan Jha paid a courtesy call on her, on Wednesday, 17^th December, 2025 at Parliament Buildings.
