PROMOTING HEALTHY PEOPLE AND A STRONGER ZAMBIA AS NATIONAL ASSEMBLY LAUNCHES FIRST-EVER AEROBICS MANIA
The National Assembly Football Club made history as it hosted its first Fundraising Aerobics Mania held at Parliament Grounds in Lusaka on Saturday, 26th July, 2025. This event was dedicated to promoting fitness, wellness and healthy living among Members of Parliament, Staff and stakeholders. The event under the theme, “Healthy People, Stronger Zambia” attracted a remarkable turnout from various organisations, underscoring the growing emphasis on physical and mental well-being.
Participants were treated to a vibrant morning group aerobic session led by certified fitness instructors, incorporating energetic dance routines, stretching exercises and strength movements tailored for all fitness levels which was preceeded by a 5 kilometre run and 2.5 kilometre walk.
Speaking during the event, Hon Likando Mufalali, MP, expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic participation and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to promoting a healthy work environment.
“As an institution that upholds the values of discipline, service and excellence, we recognise that the health of our Members and staff is fundamental to the delivery of quality parliamentary services. Aerobics Day is about creating a culture of wellness,” he said.
Organisations that participated included the Zambia Revenue Authority, Law Association of Zambia, Football Association of Zambia and National Assembly Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation. Their presence brought a wealth of knowledge and encouragement to participants.
The National Assembly Aerobics Day marks a progressive step towards institutionalising wellness in public service. Organisers indicated plans to make it an annual event, with hopes of inspiring other institutions to adopt similar initiatives that priotises the well-being of employees. The proceeds of funds raised during the event will go towards the National Assembly Football Club, for both the boys and girls teams.
