SPEAKER VISITS PETAUKE CENTRAL MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT HON EMMANUEL JAY BANDA IN HOSPITAL

Friday, June 14th, 2024 - The Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt. Hon. Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, SC., MP, FAPRA, visited Petauke Central Independent Member of Parliament Hon. Mr. Emmanuel Jay Banda at the Maina Soko Hospital where he is hospitalized.

Speaker Nelly Mutti, informed the House that she would visit Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda in order to see how he is recuperating and also to get first-hand information about his medical condition.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF ZAMBIA TO OPEN A CRÈCHE FOR NURSING PARLIAMENTARIANS AND STAFF

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia the Right Hon Ms Nelly B K Mutti, SC, MP, FAPRA, has disclosed that the National Assembly of Zambia will soon open a crèche for Parliamentarians and staff with young children and infants in order to foster a family-friendly work atmosphere.

Sefulo Re-elected to the Bureau of the OACPS-EU

Zambia's Ms Sibeso K Sefulo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mwandi Constituency has been re-elected to the Bureau of the Organisation of African, Caribbean States-European Union, marking a notable achievement in her diplomatic career. The re-election took place during the 64th Session of the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States Joint Parliamentary Assembly (OACPS) and the 1st Session of the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (OACPS-EU JPA) in Luanda, Angola.

MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT SENSITISED ON HARMFUL PRACTICES ON A CHILD

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Partnership forMaternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) Project, in collaboration with the National Assembly of Zambia, conducted a sensitisation workshop for selected Members of Parliament (MPs) on Tuesday, 12th December, 2023. The aim of the workshop was to orient MPs on the operationalisation of Section 18 of the Children’s Code Act, No 12 of 2022.

Mr Roy Ngulube sworn in as Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia

The President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema on Wednesday, 27th September, 2023 swore in Mr. Roy Ngulube as Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia following the National Assembly’s ratification of the Presidential appointment on Friday, 22nd September, 2023.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at State House.

MPs Undergo Training in Sector Budget Analysis

Members of Parliament participated in a training workshop on Sector Budget Analysis at the Lusaka International Convention Centre at Bonanza Estate, Lusaka on 23rd and 24th September, 2023.

The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of Members of Parliament (MP) to effectively analyse and make informed decisions on the national budget, and heads of expenditure (sector budgets) particularly in the Ministries of health, education, and agriculture, among other sectors.

In a recent media breakfast meeting held on Monday, 21st August, 2023 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka, Zambia, the Right Honourable Nelly B. K. Mutti, MP, FAPRA, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, aimed to strengthen the relationship between the National Assembly, the media, and the people of Zambia.

During the meeting, Speaker Mutti engaged with journalists, discussing parliamentary issues and expressing gratitude for support from the European Union and United Nations Development Programme.

NAZ SACCO APPLAUDED FOR INCLUSION OF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

NAZ SACCO; Uganda Parliamentary SACCO

The National Assembly of Zambia Savings and Credit Cooperative (NAZ SACCO) has been applauded by the Uganda Parliamentary SACCO, for opening the NAZ SACCO to include both Members and staff. Speaking when he welcomed a delegation of the NAZ SACCO, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Parliamentary SACCO, Mr Mureebe Methods Muhanuka, indicated that it was good that the NAZ SACCO had opened up to Members of Parliament.
