EBENEZER "THUS FAR THE LORD HAS HELPED US"

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Honourable Nelly B K Mutti, MP participated in the National Ecumenical Thanksgiving Prayers for peaceful elections that were held in Zambia on 12th August, 2021.  The prayers were held at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross Church on Sunday, 19th September, 2021 in Lusaka under the theme “Thus far the Lord has helped us”.

The President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr Hakainde Hichilema was also part of the thanks giving prayers.

WORLD CONFERENCE OF SPEAKERS ADOPTS DECLARATION FOR MORE EFFECTIVE GLOBAL SOLIDARITY

The world’s top legislators gathered in Vienna, Austria this week for the first major in-person international parliamentary meeting in over 18 months. The Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament brought together close to 100 Speakers from some 115 national parliaments and the heads of over a dozen regional and other parliamentary organizations.

Commonwealth Speakers discuss global pandemic recovery at ‘in-person’ Fifth World Speakers Conference in Vienna

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s Deputy Secretary-General, Jarvis Matiya, attended the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and hosted by the Parliament of Austria in Vienna from 6 – 8 September 2021. Many Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers attended the conference which was held on the theme of ‘Parliaments for peace, people and planet’ and was the first time that many Speakers and Parliamentarians have been able to gather in person since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Assembly of Zambia elects its first Female Speaker of the House

The Thirteenth National Assembly of Zambia, has today Friday, 3rd September, 2021, made history when the House elected its first female Speaker of the National Assembly Honourable Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, MP. Other Presiding Officers of the National Assembly that have been elected are the First Deputy Speaker Honourable Attractor Malungo Chisangano, MP and Second Deputy Speaker Honourable Moses F Moyo,MP, an Independent Member of Parliament for Luangeni Constituency.

ONE HUNDRED FIFTY FIVE ELECTED MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT HAVE BEEN SWORN IN

The Clerk of National Assembly of Zambia, Mrs Cecilia N Mbewe on Thursday, 2nd September , 2021, completed swearing in One Hundred Fifty Five (155) elected Members of Parliament including Her Honour the Vice President Madam Mutale Nalumongo.

The First Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly will officially be opned on Friay, 10th September, 2021, by His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ANNOUNCEMENT

THE CLERK OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IS CALLING UPON ALL HONOURABLE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT ELECT, TO REPORT TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR REGISTRATION AND ORIENTATION IN PREPARATION FOR THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE THIRTEENTH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY. MPS ELECT SHOULD ARRIVE AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MOTEL ON SATURDAY, 21ST AUGUST, 2021. MPS ELECT SHOULD ENSURE THEY CARRY THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS AS THEY REPORT TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY:

1. ORIGINAL NATIONAL REGISTRATION CARD;

2. COPY OF SPOUSE’ NATIONAL REGISTRATION CARD;

3. COPIES OF THEIR PARENTS NATIONAL REGISTRATION CARDS WHERE AVAILABLE;

4. COPIES OF CHILDREN’S’ BIRTH RECORDS;

5. ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE OR AFFIDAVIT OF MARRIAGE;

6. ORIGINAL EDUCATIONAL CERTIFICATES; AND

7. ORIGINAL PASSPORT.

CPA Deputy Secretary-General attends Isle of Man’s Tynwald Day Ceremony

The Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Mr Jarvis Matiya, visited the Isle of Man this week to take part in the Annual Tynwald Day celebrations.  Mr Matiya joined Members and parliamentary staff of the House of Keys and Legislative Council, dignitaries, the judiciary, the clergy, local campaigners and the general public to celebrate the National Day of the Isle of Man. HRH The Princess Royal presided over this year’s occasion, which saw a return to full proceedings after a scaled back event in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Speaker Matibini Says Covid19 Vaccine will Reduce Pressure on Health Facilities

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Right Honourable Justice Dr. Patrick Matibini, SC, FCIArb, MP today, Wednesday 30th June, 2021 took his second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid19, at the National Assembly Clinic. Speaking after receiving his second dose, Speaker Matibini said that during the period between the first and second dose, he has enjoyed good health and therefore, encouraged members of the public to ensure they get vaccinated.
