MPs urged to put Zambia's interests first

The Zambian Embassy in Brussels, Belgium, received four Members of Parliament, who are attending the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the OACPS and European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA).

The Meetings are discussing various issues from Democracy and Politics to Trade and Economics. Zambia is Chair of the Committee on Economic Development, Finance and Trade of the OACPS Assembly and Co-Chair of the same Committee of the ACP-EU JPA.

USE YOUR INFLUENCE AND UNIQUE POSITION TO CHAMPION THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SDGs, HON CHISANGANO

First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hon Malungo A Chisangano, MP has challenged parliamentarians to use their influence and unique position to champion the implementation of the SDGs. Hon Chisangano said this when she officially opened the Second Voluntary National Review Workshop with Members of Parliament at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka on Saturday, 10th June, 2023. The First Deputy Speaker added that legislators are well positioned to promote and adopt people-centered policies and legislation to ensure that no one is left behind.

Parliament Clubs Gaining Ground in Secondary Schools

In a bid to promote civic education and increase awareness about the role of the National Assembly of Zambia, staff of the Institution embarked on an exercise to visit selected schools in Central Province that have established Parliament Clubs. The visits were conducted between 29th May and 1st June, 2023.

The First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly is on a familiarisation tour of selected constituency offices in Southern Province.  The tour commenced on Monday, 22nd May, 2023 and will be concluded on Saturday, 27th May, 2023. The purpose of the tour is to familiarise herself with operations of constituency offices, as well as appreciate the challenges faced.

SPEAKER MUTTI CONFERRED WITH THE STATUS OF HONORARY FELLOW OF THE AFRICA PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION

K Mutti, MP has been conferred with the status of Honorary Fellow of the Africa Public Relations Association (APRA) in appreciation of the role of the National Assembly in the legislative process towards the enactment of the ZIPRC Act No. 11 of 2022 which professionalized Public Relations and Communication in Zambia.
