UN OFFICIAL CONGRATULATES HON MUTTI AS FIRST FEMALE SPEAKER

Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, Her Excellency, Diene Keita, has congratulated the Rt. Hon. Ms Nelly BK Mutti on her appointment as the first female Speaker of the National Assembly in the history of Zambia.

Speaking when a UN delegation paid a courtesy call on the Speaker, on Wednesday, 8th November, 2023 at Parliament Buildings, Ms. Keita, said that her appointment was a significant victory for the women of Zambia and the ongoing global and regional push for gender equality at all levels.

SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, NELLY MUTTI LAUNCHES PARLIAMENTARY CHRISTIAN CAUCAS

 

Speaker of the National Assembly, the Right Honourable Nelly Mutti, (MP), has launched the Parliamentary Christian Caucas that will provide a platform for Parliamentarians to discuss and advocate for policies that align with Christian values and principles.

Speaking during the launch today at Parliament Building, the Honourable Speaker Nelly Mutti said that the establishment of the Caucas affirms the preamble of the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016.

The election was held during the just ended 147th Inter Parliamentary Union Assembly and Related Meetings being hosted by Angola in its capital city, Luanda.

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suhulu Hassan, says that the Zambian Parliamentarians have a key role to play in fostering bilateral relations between the two countries.

Speaking when she addressed the Zambia Parliament on October 25th, 2023, President Hassan said that the good intents of the two governments requires the solid backing of Parliamentarians if they are to bring about the intended outcomes.

Amussa Mwanamwambwa, as a dedicated servant who has left an enduring legacy. Hon. Chisangano said this on Monday, 23rd October, 2023 when she led a team of National Assembly of Zambia senior management in consoling the family and the widow, Mrs. Catherine Mwanamwambwa, at the funeral house in Lusaka.

Speaker Mutti emerges Commonwealth Parliamentarian of the Year 2023

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt. Hon. Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, MP, FAPRA has been awarded as the Commonwealth Parliamentarian of the year 2023 at the just ended 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, in Accra, Ghana.

Rt. Hon. Mutti scooped the award following a rigorous nomination and adjudication process involving eight other nominations from around the Commonwealth.
