NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO RESUME SITTING ON TUESDAY, 7TH JUNE, 2022

The First Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly which adjourned sine die on Friday, 1st April, 2022, will resume on Tuesday, 7th June, 2022 at 1430 hours.
 
Stakeholders and the general public are encouraged to follow the live proceedings on the following platforms:
 
i. Parliament radio;
ii. Parliament TV on Top star channel 5;
iii. DSTV channel 272 and GOTV channel 100;

FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER, CHISANGANO LEADS COMMITTEE ON PRIVILEGES AND ABSENCES ON A BENCHMARKING VISIT TO THE PARLIAMENT OF UGANDA

The First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Hon. Malungo Chisangano, MP has led the Committee on Privileges and Absences on a benchmarking visit to the Parliament of Uganda. The Committee assists the Speaker to determine matters relating to the privileges and discipline of Members of Parliament. The purpose of the visit is to exchange best practices on the privileges of the House (National Assembly) and breach thereof, and on the discipline of Members of Parliament.

SPEAKER MUTTI DATES THE PARLIAMENT OF GHANA ON A BENCHMARKING VISIT

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, The Rt Honourable Nelly B K Mutti, MP has led the Standing Orders Committee on a benchmarking tour to the Parliament of Ghana to share best practices on the welfare of Members of Parliament and staff.  

The Standing Orders Committee will be in Ghana until 30th May, 2022.

Commonwealth Parliamentary Association launches new Commonwealth Parliamentarian of the Year Awards

 

As part of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s mission to strengthen parliamentary democracy through the promotion of good governance and sharing best practice, a new Commonwealth Parliamentarian of the Year Awards has been launched.

Malawian Parliamentarians date Zambia

A selected Task Force, made up of Members of Parliament from Selected Committees of the Parliament of Malawi paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, the Rt. Honourable Nelly B K Mutti, MP on Tuesday, 26th April, 2022 at Parliament Buildings. The delegation is led by Honourable Dr Abel Kayembe, MP.

COURTESY CALL ON THE RT HON MADAM NELLY B K MUTTI, MP, BY THE FINNISH PARLIAMENT

A delegation of Finnish Parliamentarians led by Mr Jouni Ovasaka from Demo Finland an organization that supports democracy by parties for parties on Tuesday, 25th April, 2022 met the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nelly B. K Mutti, MP at Parliament Buildings to discuss various issues pertaining to parliamentary work and the support of democracy by parties. Speaker Mutti expressed the need for a law reformation in order for Zambia to enhance female representation in Parliament as is the case with Parliaments like Rwanda, Finland, Sweden.

NAZ CONGRATULATES SPEAKER MUTTI FOR THE 2022 PRESTIGIOUS KING LEWANIKA ROYAL MERITOCRACY AWARD

Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia, Mrs Cecilia N Mbewe has congratulated the Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, The Rt. Honourable Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, MP for being awarded the 2022 Prestigious King Lewanika Royal Meritocracy Award at the Kuomboka Ceremony.   

The congratulatory message was delivered on Friday, 22nd April, 2022 at Parliament Buildings.

 

THE COMMITTEE ON PARLIAMENTARY REFORMS EMBARKS ON A TOUR OF THE COPPERBELT

The Hon Second Deputy Speaker, Honourable Moses Moyo,MP is currently leading the Committee on Parliamentary Reforms,  which he Chairs at the National Assembly of Zambia, to tour Constituency Offices on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. The tour started on Tuesday 19th April 2022 and will continue until Friday 22nd April, 2022 and is aimed at familiarizing the Committee on Parliamentary Reforms with operations of Constituency Offices.
 

CAPAH MEMBERS TOUR KASENSELI GOLD MINE

Members of the Coalition of African Parliamentarians on Human – Animal Health and Environment (CAPAH) led by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Honorable  Elijah Muchima, MP and CAPAH Vice Chairperson toured Kasenseli Gold Mine in Mwinilunga District of  North - Western Province on Thursday, 7th April, 2022.
