Deputy Speaker Chisangano Confers with Austrian Parliamentarians

Two Austrian Parliamentarians, Prof. Dr. Axel Kassegger, MP and Mr. Walter Asperl, MP today, 8th September, 2022 paid a courtesy call on the First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Hon. Malungo Chisangano, MP, at Parliament Buildings.

Their discussions bordered on previous partnerships between the Zambian and Austrian Parliaments and support rendered by the Austrian Parliament to the Zambian Parliament and the results that have been yielded this far.

FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER ATTENDS THE 11THPAN AFRICAN PARLIAMENT CONFERENCE OF AFRICAN SPEAKERS OF PARLIAMENTS

First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Hon Chisangano, MP, was among 55 Speaker’s from different African National and Regional Parliaments who attended the 11thConference of Speakers, which was held from 1st to 2nd September, 2022, in Midrand South Africa.

THE COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION (CPA) MAKES HEADWAY IN CHANGING ITS LEGAL STATUS

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt. Hon Nelly B K Mutti, MP recently led a delegation to the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference held in Nova Scotia, Halifax, Canada from 20th to 26th August, 2022 under the theme “Inclusive, Accessible, Accountable and Strong Parliaments: the Cornerstone of Democracy and Essential for Development.”

NAZ LAUNCHES PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY CLUBS IN SCHOOL

The National Assembly of Zambia with support from the Ministry of Education launched the establishment of Parliamentary Democracy Clubs in schools in Central and Lusaka Provinces respectively, on Saturday 6th  August, 2022 at Tuskers Hotel, Kabwe and on Friday 19th August 2022 at Parliament Buildings.  

A one day training workshop was conducted for teachers from the various districts of the aforementioned provinces to discuss and share best practices aimed at enhancing tools to support them set up the Democracy clubs in schools.  

FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER, CONFERS WITH MS HEATHER FLYNN ON DEMOCRATIC AND ECONOMIC REFORMS IN ZAMBIA

First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Honourable Malungo A. Chisangano, MP on Monday 22 August, 2022 met with Senior Professional Staff Member for Africa and Global Health on the United States (U.S) Senate Foreign Relations Committee (SFRC), Ms Heather Flynn to deliberate on Democratic Reforms in Zambia.

HON CHISANGANO PRAISES THE SPEAKER OF THE TRANSITIONAL NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF SOUTH SUDAN

The Hon Madam First Deputy Speaker, Mrs Malungo Chisangano, MP, has just concluded a visit to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of South Sudan from 4th to 7th August, 2022. The visit was on the invitation of the Rt. Hon Speaker Mrs Jemma Nunu Kumba, MP, Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly. Hon Kumba has been Speaker of the Transnational National Assembly of South Sudan for one year since 6th August 2021. On 6th August 2022, she launched the Jemma Nunu Kumba (JNK) Foundation which will focus on uplifting the life of the women and children in South Sudan.

The Acting Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia calls for quality Report Writing and Recommendations by the Committee Department

The Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr Roy Ngulube, has called for improved quality reporting and recommendations by the Committee Department. He said this on Monday, 9th August, 2022, when he officially opened the Capacity Building Workshop on Annual & Evaluation Report Analysis and Report Writing for selected Members of Staff of the National Assembly, at Lake Kariba Inn, in Siavonga.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF ZAMBIA HOLDS THE CPA POST-ELECTION SEMINAR

The National Assembly of Zambia, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) held a four day Post-Election Seminar for the 13th National Assembly of Zambia from Monday, 25th to 28th July, 2022. The purpose of the Seminar was to offer Members of Parliament (MPs), of the 13th National Assembly, an opportunity to learn more about parliamentary practice, procedure and etiquette, as practiced in the Zambian Parliament, and in jurisdictions that subscribe to the Westminster Parliamentary System.
