Experts and stakeholders conclude consultations on Natural Resources Governance in Africa's Great Lakes region

The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) and the Office of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for the Great Lakes (O/SESG-GL) convened on the 5th and 6th  July in Nairobi, Kenya, “Regional Experts and Stakeholders Consultation on Natural Resources and Good Governance for Sustainable Peace, Development and Transformation of the Great Lakes Region”.

The National Assembly of Zambia has continued its outreach programme of sensitising the public on the roles, functions and operations of the National Assembly. In a quest to taking Parliament closer to the people, a Road Show was conducted at Lupili market and Muombe turnoff on Saturday, 3rd June, 2017.

In a bid to take Parliament closer to the people, the National Assembly of Zambia members of staff were on Power FM Radio on Friday, 19th May, 2017 to share information with the general public on the National Assembly in general and the work of the Budget Office.  Similar programmes are scheduled for Hot FM, UNZA Radio, Radio Phoenix and Parliament Radio.

The Committee on Legal Affairs, Governance, Human Rights, Gender Matters and Child Affairs held a two day knowledge and lesson sharing seminar on the Implications of the Extractive Industrial activities on Human Rights.  The seminar was held from 29th to 30th April, 2017 at Chita Lodge in Kafue.  

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Mid-year Executive Committee Meeting opened in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly, Darwin, Australia, on Wednesday 26th April, 2017. The meeting was officially opened by Rt. Hon. Shirin Sharmin, Chaudhury, Chairperson of the Executive Committee and Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament. In opening the meeting, the Chairperson applauded the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly for providing excellent facilities for the meeting and extending a warm welcome to delegates.
