Zambian Legislators in the Fight against Covid-19

Zambian law makers have for several months now, been undertaking sensitisation activities and donating materials in their constituencies towards the fight against Covid19. The parliamentarians while working together with members of staff in the Constituency offices and various stakeholders have undertaken sensitisation activities and made donations in different parts of their constituencies such as police stations, schools, markets and hospitals.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TAKES PART IN COMMEMORATING THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

The National Assembly of Zambia, on Monday, 9th March 2020 took part in commemorating the International Women’s day which was held under the theme, “I am generation equality: realizing women’s rights” at the show grounds in Lusaka. The Ceremony, which was graced by H.E the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, included exhibition booths, live entertainment and a march past. The National Assembly was represented by the First Deputy Speaker, Hon.

2019: PARLIAMENT IN REVIEW

In 2019, the Members of Parliament sat for a total of 106 days. The business transacted included the consideration of 441 Questions for Oral and Written Answer, fifty-six (56) Ministerial Statements and nine (09) Private Members’ Motions.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOOTBALL CLUB UNVEILS NEW COACH

The National Assembly of Zambia Football Club (NAZ FC) has today, Tuesday, 14th January, 2020 unveiled its new Coach, Misheck Lungu. Mr Lungu has signed a five months contract which is subject to extension. The unveiling of the new Coach took place during a press briefing held at the National Assembly Media Centre.

MANDEVU CONSTITUENCY OFFICE HOLDS OPEN DAY

DR JONAS CHANDA CONDUCTS A SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME IN MUSHILI WARD

The Member of Parliament for Bwanamkubwa Constituency, Dr Jonas Chanda on 24th August, 2019 conducted a sensitisation programme in Mushili ward which aimed at providing information to the constituents on the role of a Member of Parliament and Constituency Office.  Dr Chanda with the help of drama groups and Constituency Office staff also articulated in general, the opportunities available for the constituents to participate in the work of the National Assembly and in particular how they can access the Constituency Office.

CHIMBAMILONGA CONSTITUENCY OFFICE SENSITISES KAPISHA WARD

Chimbamilonga Constituency Office conducted an outreach programme in Chibanga and Mushi villages in Kapisha ward to sensitize the constituents on the roles of the Member of Parliament and Constituency Office. The event that took place on Monday, 5th August, 2019 was attended by over 600 people and included, local cultural groups who through their performances disseminated information on the work and activities of the National Assembly.

Lukashya, Kasama Central and Malole constituencies exhibit at Northern Province Agriculture Show

The National Assembly of Zambia through Lukashya, Kasama Central and Malole Constituency Offices participated in the Northern Province Agriculture, Tourism and Investment show which took place from 28th to 30th June, 2019 in Kasama.  The three Constituency Offices which exhibited at the Agriculture Show under the theme, “Embracing Industrial Development” provided information to the show-goers on the roles of the Constituency Office and the Member of Parliament.  Further, the Constituency Office staff took the opportunity to note concerns that were presented by the public

Kabwata Constituency Office hosts a school choir song composing competition

The National Assembly of Zambia through the Parliamentary Reforms Programme Department (PRP) has been spearheading the implementation and use of the Partnership Strategies and Guidelines for Constituency offices and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Through this process, Kabwata Constituency Office partnered with some Civil Society Organizations, namely Africa Directions and SAfAIDS to implement an activity dubbed "the School Choir Song Composing competition," on Friday, 28th June 2019 at YMCA Hall.

Speaker Matibini meets CPA Official

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, The Rt Hon Mr Justice Dr Patrrick Matibini, SC, BA, FCIArb, MP, welcomes at Parliament Buildings,  Mr Jarvis Matiya, Director of Operations at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Secretariat. Mr Matiya was in the country for a training workshop for Members of Parliament on the Role of Parliaments in Ratifying International Agreements which was held at Parliament Buildings from 19 to 20 June 2019.
