The National Assembly of Zambia elects its first Female Speaker of the House

The Thirteenth National Assembly of Zambia, has today Friday, 3rd September, 2021, made history when the House elected its first female Speaker of the National Assembly Honourable Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, MP. Other Presiding Officers of the National Assembly that have been elected are the First Deputy Speaker Honourable Attractor Malungo Chisangano, MP and Second Deputy Speaker Honourable Moses F Moyo,MP, an Independent Member of Parliament for Luangeni Constituency.

ONE HUNDRED FIFTY FIVE ELECTED MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT HAVE BEEN SWORN IN

The Clerk of National Assembly of Zambia, Mrs Cecilia N Mbewe on Thursday, 2nd September , 2021, completed swearing in One Hundred Fifty Five (155) elected Members of Parliament including Her Honour the Vice President Madam Mutale Nalumongo.

The First Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly will officially be opned on Friay, 10th September, 2021, by His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ANNOUNCEMENT

THE CLERK OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IS CALLING UPON ALL HONOURABLE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT ELECT, TO REPORT TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR REGISTRATION AND ORIENTATION IN PREPARATION FOR THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE THIRTEENTH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY. MPS ELECT SHOULD ARRIVE AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MOTEL ON SATURDAY, 21ST AUGUST, 2021. MPS ELECT SHOULD ENSURE THEY CARRY THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS AS THEY REPORT TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY:

1. ORIGINAL NATIONAL REGISTRATION CARD;

2. COPY OF SPOUSE’ NATIONAL REGISTRATION CARD;

3. COPIES OF THEIR PARENTS NATIONAL REGISTRATION CARDS WHERE AVAILABLE;

4. COPIES OF CHILDREN’S’ BIRTH RECORDS;

5. ORIGINAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE OR AFFIDAVIT OF MARRIAGE;

6. ORIGINAL EDUCATIONAL CERTIFICATES; AND

7. ORIGINAL PASSPORT.

SPEAKER MEETS COMMONWEALTH PRE-ELECTION ASSESSMENT TEAM

MWAKALOMBE SPEAKS TREE PLANTING FOR A GREEN ENVIRONMENT

Chongwe Member of Parliament and Copperbelt Provincial Minister, Honourable Japhen Mwakalombe has called on Chongwe residents to ensure that they plant trees in order to protect the environment, human life and property.

Honourable Mwakalombe made the call during the tree planting exercise at Evergreen primary school in Kanakantapa ward in Chongwe.

Parliamentarians Undergo Orientation on how Parliamentary Business will Proceed amid the Coronavirus Disease Pandemic

The Fourth Session of the Twelfth National Assembly which adjourned sine die on Wednesday, 18th March, 2020 has resumed today, 9th June, 2020. Between Tuesday, 9th and Friday 12th June, 2020, Members of Parliament will be undergoing orientation on how Parliamentary Business will proceed amid the Coronavirus Disease Pandemic. Parliamentary debate will thus, commence on Tuesday, 16th June, 2020.
