CAPAH MEMBERS TOUR KASENSELI GOLD MINE

Members of the Coalition of African Parliamentarians on Human – Animal Health and Environment (CAPAH) led by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Honorable  Elijah Muchima, MP and CAPAH Vice Chairperson toured Kasenseli Gold Mine in Mwinilunga District of  North - Western Province on Thursday, 7th April, 2022.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia,The Rt. Honourable Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, MP led the Zambian delegation to the 12th Ordinary Session of the Plenary Assembly of the Forum of Parliaments of Member - States of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) held in Nairobi, Kenya from 2nd to 6th April, 2022.

SEFULO SAYS THE NEW POST-COTONOU AGREEMENT SHOULD ENHANCE COOPERATION TO ENSURE EQUITABLE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Zambia’s representative to the African, Caribbean and Pacific-European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU JPA), Ms Sibeso Kakoma Sefulo, Member of Parliament for Mwandi Constituency, says the Post Cotonou Agreement should, among other things, enhance cooperation to ensure equitable access to learning opportunities. As a bedrock for sustainable development, Ms Sefulo asserted that cooperation in delivering quality education between ACP states and the EU, is key, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NORTHERN, MUCHINGA AND CENTRAL PROVINCE CONSTITUENCY OFFICE STAFF ORIENTED

The Parliamentary Reforms Programme Department, the Accounts Department, and the Administration, Human Resources, and Development Department conducted an orientation workshop for 28 members of staff from various Constituency Offices in Northern, Muchinga and Central Provinces. The orientation was held from 15th to 18thMarch, 2022 at Crumach Lodge in Mpika. This was the first in a series of four (4) orientation workshops to be held in quarter 1 and quarter 2. The objective of the orientation was to strengthen the human and institutional capacity of Parliamentary Constituency Officers.

First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Honourable Malungo A Chisangano, MP,  represents the National Assembly of Zambia at the State Funeral of His Excellency Mr Rupiah Bwezani Banda, Fourth President of the Republic of Zambia on Thursday 17th March 2022, held at the Lusaka Showgrounds.  Also in attendance was Former Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, the Rt Honourable Dr. Patrick Matibini, SC., BA, FCIArb, MP.

CAPAH ZAMBIA LAUNCHES STRATEGIC PLANNING MEETING

The Coalition of African Parliamentarian Against HIV and AIDS (CAPAH) officially opened its strategic planning meeting on Saturday 19th March 2022, at Chaminuka Lodge and Nature Reserve, Chongwe, Lusaka.

Honourable Sylvia Masebo, MP, Mister of Health officiated the event on behalf of Her Honour the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Madam W. K. Nalumango, MP.

SPEAKER MUTTI CONFERS WITH UK LORD SPEAKER MCFALL

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, the Rt. Hon Nelly B K Mutti, MP met with the United Kingdom Lord Speaker, Lord McFall of Alcluith on Wednesday, 16th March, 2022 in London, Untied Kingdom.  Earlier, Speaker Mutti met the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Mr Stephen Twigg.

Speaker Mutti is in the United Kingdom on an orientation programme. 

Minister of Energy engages MPs on the Rural Electrification Programme

Minister of Energy Hon. Eng. Peter Kapala, MP, on, Tuesday 15th March 2022 engaged Members of Parliament on the Government’s intention to scale up the programme of rural electrification in rural areas through the extension of the Grid Network and deployment of off-grid electrification solutions such as mini-grids, solar home systems and provision of solar water pumping technologies. He said this during the opening of the symposium organized for Members of Parliament on the Rural Electrification Programme at Parliament Buildings in Lusaka. Hon.

FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER CONFERS WITH WORLD BANK OFFICIALS

A Delegation from the World Bank led by the Executive Director Eva Valle Maestro paid a courtesy call on the First Deputy Speaker, Honourable Malungo A Chisangano, MP, and the Second Deputy Speaker, Honourable Moses Moyo, MP of the National Assembly of Zambia on Monday 14th March 2022 at Parliament Buildings.
