Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency Yang Youming paid a courtesy on the Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt. Hon Justice Dr Patrick Matibini, SC, MP on Monday, 10th April, 2018 to bid farewell.

138th IPU CONVENES IN GENEVA

The Rt Hon Justice Patrick Matibini, SC, FCIArb, MP, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia has led a delegation to the 138th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly and Related Meetings. The Assembly which is being held under the theme “Strengthening the global regime for migrants and refugees: the need for evidence based policy solutions” is being held in Geneva, Switzerland from 24th to 28th March, 2018.

The First Deputy Speaker, Ms Catherine Namugala was interviewed by Miss Abigail Ngalase, six year old in Grade three at Divine Heritage School on Palm Drive in Chelstone, Lusaka.This was to commemorate International Children's Day of Broadcasting (ICDB) which falls on Sunday 4th March 2018. Veteran Broadcaster Ms Ireen Kabeke Banda of Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Radio Two (2) accompanied the "young journalist!" After the interview the First Deputy Speaker asked Abigail if she would like to be a Member of Parliament and why!

OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE ICT WORKSHOP TO FORMULATE A NEW NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ICT STRATEGIC PLAN, ON 17TH FEBRUARY 2018 AT TWANGALE PARK RESORT HOTEL, LUSAKA

The official opening of the ICT workshop to formulate a new National Assembly ICT Strategic Plan was officially opened by Mr Roy Ngulube, the Deputy Clerk Administration at Twangale Park in Lusaka on Saturday, 17th February, 2018. The event was characterized by a number of speeches.

The Speaker of the National Assembly Rt. Hon Justice Dr Patrick Matibini, SC, MP on Wednesday, 1st November, 2017 launched the Public Finance Management (PFM) Handbook at Parliament Buildings.  The PFM Handbook is available on the National Assembly website.

Mrs Cecilia Mbewe was sworn in as Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia by His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu at State House on Wednesday 25th October, 2017. In accordance with the provisions of Section 3 of the National Assembly Staff Act, CAP 257 of the Laws of Zambia, the Members of Parliament at their Sitting of 5th October, 2017, ratified the Presidential appointment of Mrs Cecilia Nsenduluka Mbewe as Clerk of the National Assembly.

Republican President Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu has officially opened the Second Session of the Twelfth National Assembly today, Friday 15th September, 2017. Some of the bills expected to be tabled during this session include; Companies Bill, Insolvency Bill, bills to amend the Public Finance Act No. 15 of 2004 and the Local government Act Cap 281 of the Laws of Zambia and the National Planning and Budgeting Bill.
