ANGOLA, ZAMBIA TO ENHANCE BILATERAL RELATIONS

Angolan Ambassador to Zambia, His Excellency, Mr. Azevedo Xavier Francisco says there is need to enhance the existing trade and economic relations between Zambia and Angola through increased trade of grain and other commodities.


He said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt Honourable Ms. Nelly B K Mutti, MP on Monday 14th November, 2022 at Parliament Buildings.

GENDER EQUALITY KEY IN THE SADC REGION, KASUNE

Zambia’s representative to the Southern African Development Community-Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF) Regional Women Parliamentary Caucus and Chairperson of the National Women’s Parliamentary Caucus in the country Hon. Princess Kasune says gender equality remains a key priority in the region through the promotion of good, inclusive governance and accountability.

Zambia’s Delegation to the 61st OACPS and 42nd ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly Supports Multilateralism

The Organisation of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) and the African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Union Joint Parliamentary Assembly (ACP-EU JPA), successfully held the 61st and 42nd Sessions, respectively, in Maputo, Mozambique, from 25th October to 2nd November, 2022. The ACP-EU JPA was officially opened by His Excellency Eng. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique.

KALOMO LAWMAKER ELECTED TO IPU HUMAN RIGHTS BODY

Kalomo Central  Member of Parliament  Mr Harry Kamboni, MP, has been elected to serve as Member of the Inter -  Parliamentary Union (IPU) Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians.  Mr Kamboni emerged as  one of the 4 winners in an election which had  7 contestants at the just ended 145th IPU Assembly which was recently held in Kigali, Rwanda, from 11 to 15th October 2022.

NAZ COMMITTEE STAFF SHARE LESSONS LEARNT FROM OTHER PARLIAMENTS

The Committee Department held a one day workshop for all members of staff in the Department on Saturday 15th October, 2022 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre. The aim of the workshop was for members of staff in the Department to share their experiences and lessons learnt from the attachments they had undertaken to various Parliaments earlier in 2022.  In addition, the workshop was a follow up to an earlier Departmental workshop on report and minute writing techniques that was held in August 2022 in Siavonga.

ADDRESS GENDER INEQUALITIES FOR PEACE AND SUSTAINABILTY

Speaker of the National Assembly, the Right Honourable Madam Nelly B K Mutti, MP has called on Parliaments to take deliberate steps in adopting legal frameworks that guarantee women’s rights.

Madam Speaker said that, the way a society views women is reflected in the composition of its Parliaments. She noted that there can never be gender-sensitive Parliaments if gender equality is not embedded within a society.

Constituency Staff Encouraged To Remain Professional

Honourable Moses F Moyo, MP, the Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia encouraged the constituency staff to remain professional and assured them of the support of the Speaker whose desire is to ensure the constituency offices become an equipped access point for the National Assembly of Zambia.

He said this when he visited the Munali Constituency Office in Lusaka Province on Tuesday 11th October, 2022 where he went to familiarize himself with the operations of the office.

PARLIAMENTARIANS URGED TO ACT ON CLIMATE CHANGE

She said this during a tree planting exercise and a combined tour of Chawama, Matero and Mandevu Parliamentary Constituency Offices on Monday, 3rd October, 2022.
