The Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Frank Moyo, says water and sanitation remain a key component of national development and must be prioritised across various sectors.

Hon. Moyo said this on Wednesday, 18th March, 2026, in Committee Room 5 at Parliament Buildings when a delegation from the Zambia Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Forum paid a courtesy call on him.

Prof. Nicklaus Labhardt of the University of Basel has called for the institutionalisation and financing of Community Health Workers responding to Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) to improve access to chronic care and accelerate the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in rural Africa.

Prof. Labhardt said the growing burden of non-communicable diseases requires innovative and affordable service delivery models.

Dr. Isabelle Uny, Senior Research Fellow at the University of Stirling, has urged African countries to enact and enforce stronger alcohol control policies to safeguard young people and protect the continent’s economic dividend.

Ms. Evaline Kibuchi, Africa Regional Director for the Global Tuberculosis Caucus, has called for gender-responsive policies and increased financing to accelerate the End TB campaign in Africa.
