The Tobacco Control Bill, 2025

The objects of this Bill are to—
(a) provide for the protection of present and future
generations from the devastating health, social,
environmental and economic consequences of tobacco
use, nicotine addiction, and exposure to the harmful
emissions of tobacco products, tobacco devices, nicotine
products or nicotine devices;
(b) constitute the Tobacco Control Committee and provide
for its functions;
(c) regulate the manufacture, distribution, sale, import of a
tobacco product, tobacco device, nicotine, nicotine

President John Mahama of Ghana addresses the National Assembly of Zambia, Calls for African Economic Sovereignty

Signalling a bold departure from decades of economic dependency, Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama delivered a high-stakes address to the National Assembly of Zambia on the 5th of February, 2026, unveiling a visionary blueprint he termed the “Accra Reset.”

Speaking when he addressed the National Assembly, Mahama challenged African leaders to move beyond political goodwill and secure genuine economic emancipation by asserting sovereignty over their natural resources and domesticating financial reserves.

The Occupational Health and Safety Act

An Act to continue the existence of the Occupational Health and Safety Institute and re define its functions; re constitute the Board of the Occupational Health and Safety Institute and re-define its functions; provide for the establishment of health and safety committees at workplaces; regulate health and safety of persons at workplaces; repeal and replace the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2010; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing. 

FIRST DEPUTY SPEAKER CHISANGANO DATES THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF TANZANIA

The First Deputy Speaker, of the National Assembly of Zambia,Hon. Malungo Chisangano, MP,  is in Dodoma, United Republic of Tanzania, on an official benchmarking visit to the National Assembly of Tanzania.

As part of the visit, Hon. Chisangano paid a courtesy call on her counterpart, Hon. Daniel Baran Sillo, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, on Monday, 2ndFebruary, 2026. The engagement emphasised the strong and long-standing parliamentary relations between Zambia and Tanzania.
