The Tobacco Control Bill, 2025

Parliamentary Period: 
Fifth Session of the Thirteenth Assembly

The objects of this Bill are to—
(a) provide for the protection of present and future
generations from the devastating health, social,
environmental and economic consequences of tobacco
use, nicotine addiction, and exposure to the harmful
emissions of tobacco products, tobacco devices, nicotine
products or nicotine devices;
(b) constitute the Tobacco Control Committee and provide
for its functions;
(c) regulate the manufacture, distribution, sale, import of a
tobacco product, tobacco device, nicotine, nicotine
product and nicotine device;
(d) provide for the packaging and labeling of a tobacco
product, tobacco device, nicotine, nicotine product or
nicotine device;
(e) regulate the advertisement, promotion and sponsorship
of a tobacco product or tobacco device, nicotine, nicotine
product and nicotine device;
(f) domesticate the World Health Organisation Framework
Convention on Tobacco Control; and
(g) provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the
foregoing.
