Government Chief Whip Hon. Brian Mundubile, MP Announces Guidelines for the Sitting of Parliament during the Coronavirus Period

Government Chief Whip Hon. Brian Mundubile, MP has announced guidelines for the sitting of Parliament during the coronavirus period. This was during a press briefing held at parliament buildings on Tuesday, 16th June, 2020. Among the guidelines announced by Hon. Mundubile is the reduction in sitting hours, Parliament will during the coronavirus period sit from 14:30 hours to 17:00 hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 09:00 hours to 12:00 hours on Fridays.

New Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) appointed

The Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) has appointed a new Secretary-General for the Association. Stephen Twigg will become the CPA Secretary-General of one of the oldest established organisations in the Commonwealth.

Parliamentarians Undergo Orientation on how Parliamentary Business will Proceed amid the Coronavirus Disease Pandemic

The Fourth Session of the Twelfth National Assembly which adjourned sine die on Wednesday, 18th March, 2020 has resumed today, 9th June, 2020. Between Tuesday, 9th and Friday 12th June, 2020, Members of Parliament will be undergoing orientation on how Parliamentary Business will proceed amid the Coronavirus Disease Pandemic. Parliamentary debate will thus, commence on Tuesday, 16th June, 2020.

Zambian law makers have for several months now, been undertaking sensitisation activities and donating materials in their constituencies towards the fight against Covid19. The parliamentarians while working together with members of staff in the Constituency offices and various stakeholders have undertaken sensitisation activities and made donations in different parts of their constituencies such as police stations, schools, markets and hospitals.

Parliament to resume Sitting on 9th June, 2020

Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs Cecilia N Mbewe has issued a statement that the Fourth Session of the Twelfth National Assembly, which adjourned Sine die on Wednesday, 18th March, 2020, will resume on Tuesday, 9th June, 2020 at 1430 Hours.
