Parliamentary Constituency Office Newsletter

The newsletter is one way of raising awareness on the work of the National Assembly through Constituency Offices. The Constituency Office Newsletter also contributes to the attainment of the overall objective of the National Assembly Communication Strategy for the period 2022 to 2026.

The Rural Electrification Bill, 2023

The objects of this Bill are to—

(a) promote and enhance rural electrification;

(b) continue the existence of the Rural Electrification Authority and re

define its functions;

(c) constitute the Board of the Authority and provide for its functions;

(d) continue the existence of the Rural Electrification Fund;

(e) repeal and replace the Rural Electrification Act, 2003; and

(f) provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.

The Controlled Substances Bill, 2023

The objects of this Bill are to

(a) provide for the granting of a licence to deal in, manufacture, import and

export a controlled substance;

(b) regulate the use, dispensing, manufacture, wholesale, transfer, supply,

sell, distribution and possession of a controlled substance for medicinal,

scientific and research purposes;

(c)provide for procedures and criteria for classification of controlled

substances;

(d) provide for the functions of the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority

relating to controlled substances;

The Examination Council of Zambia Bill, 2023

The objects of this Bill are to—

(a) provide for the accreditation of examination centres;

(b) provide for the administration of examinations;

(c) continue the existence of the Examinations Council of Zambia

and re define its functions;

(d) constitute the Board of the Examinations Council of Zambia

and provide for its functions;

(e) repeal and replace the Examinations Council of Zambia Act,

1983; and

(f) provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.

The National Pension Scheme Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023

The object of this Bill is to amend theNational Pension Scheme Act, 1996 so as

to provide for—

(a) members to access a pre-retirement benefit; and

(b) matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.
