Speaker Mutti Leads Celebration as Zambia's Parliament Marks 100 Years

The National Assembly of Zambia commemorated 100 years of existence on Wednesday 22nd May 2024. 

Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti says despite some challenges, Zambia’s Parliament has become a cornerstone of democracy and a central institution through which the will of the people is expressed. 

During the ceremony,  Speaker Mutti announced that effective next year, May 23rd will be commemorated as Parliament Day annually.

The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Zambia has called on Speaker to remain steadfast and firm

Seventh Day Adventist Church Woodlands Conference President, Dr. Daniel Chuunga expressed confidence in the leadership of Speaker Mutti when he paid a courtesy call on her on Monday, 6th May, 2024, at Parliament buildings.

He said that the position of Speaker is that of important responsibility and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church stands ready to offer its support and collaboration in any capacity necessary.

CLERK OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF ZAMBIA SIGNS MOU WITH FORMER PARLIAMENTARIANS.

Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia, Mr Roy Ngulube, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Former Parliamentarians Association of Zambia (FPAZ) and the National Assembly of Zambia, the MOU is aimed at enhancing Parliamentary oversight by enabling Former MPs make submissions on the Parliamentary Committees as witnesses where need arises and among others having meetings with the international bodies, associations and caucuses.

Mr Ngulube signed the MoU today on Friday, 3rd May, 2024, in Lusaka, at Parliament Buildings.

Access Bank MD Discusses Transformative Merger with Clerk of the National Assembly

Access Bank Managing Director, Mr. Lishala Situmbeko accompanied by key executives paid a courtesy visit to the Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia on Thursday, 2nd May, 2024 at Parliament Buildings in Lusaka. The purpose of the visit was to formally inform the esteemed official about the recent merger between Access Bank and Atlas Mara Bank, a significant development poised to reshape the country's banking sector.

SPEAKER MUTTI EXTENDS WARM FAREWELL TO OUTGOING ALGERIAN AMBASSADOR

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, the Right Honourable Ms. Nelly B K Mutti, SC, MP, FAPRA, expressed heartfelt gratitude and bid farewell to the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Saadi, as his diplomatic tenure in Zambia came to an end. These sentiments were conveyed when the Ambassador paid a farewell courtesy call on her on Wednesday, 24th April, 2024 at Parliament Buildings.

The Constituency Development Fund Act, 2024

An Act to provide for the decentralisation of the management, disbursement, utilisation and accountability of the Constituency Development Fund; continue the existence of the Constituency Development Fund Committee and re-define its functions; revise the composition of the Constituency Development Fund Committee; establish the Provincial Constituency Development Fund Committee; repeal and replace the Constituency Development Fund Act, 2018; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.

The Animal Identification and Traceability Act, 2024

An Act to establish the Animal Identification and Traceability Unit and provide for its functions; provide for an animal identification and traceability system; provide for the registration of animal identification marks and agents; provide for the traceability of animals, animal products and animal by-products; repeal and replace the Animal Identification Act, 2010; and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.
