President Lungu has led Zambia into yet another milestone in the history of the nation as he fulfilled the long awaited promise by assenting to a people-driven Constitution. He signed the Constitution Bill at the National Heroes Stadium on Tuesday 5th January, 2016 in Lusaka at a ceremony that attracted thousands of people from all walks of life.

IPU gravely concerned over Burundi crisis

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is gravely concerned about the worsening
violence in Burundi, which has left hundreds of people dead and has forced
hundreds of thousands to flee their homes.

IPU is urging the authorities to do their duty to protect human life and
prevent further bloodshed.

Calls for Oman to release wrongfully jailed former MP

IPU¹s Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians is calling for the immediate release of former Omani MP Talib Al-Mamari. It believes he has been wrongfully imprisoned since October 2013 on charges related to his involvement in a demonstration.

SADC Parliamentary Forum Election Observation Mission to the 2015 Seychelles Presidential Elections- Interim Statement

Following an invitation by the Electoral Commission of Seychelles, the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF), constituted an Election Observation Mission to observe the First Round 2015 Seychelles Presidential Elections which took place on 3, 4 and 5 December 2015. The Mission has been in Seychelles since 28 November 2015 and is composed of Members of Parliament from SADC Parliaments and officials from SADC PF Secretariat.
