The first Circuit Court Sessions to held in Ndola

The Tax Appeals Tribunal (formally Revenue Appeals Tribunal) is a statutory body created by Act No. 11 of 1998 as amended by Act No. 1 of 2015 to provide a specialized and speedy forum to resolve tax related disputes between Taxpayers and the Zambia Revenue Authority.

The president of the Republic of Zambia Mr Edgar C Lungu recently launched the 2015 National Youth Policy and Action Plan on Youth Empowerment and Employment. The President launched the two documents in Lusaka on 12th August, 2015.

Parliamentary leaders’ summit pledges to reconnect people and democracy

Parliamentary leaders from nearly 140 countries have pledged to do their utmost to reconnect people with democracy in an ambitious and far-reaching declaration adopted at the end of a three-day global summit in New York.
 
More than 170 Speakers and Deputy Speakers of Parliament at the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament acknowledged that extraordinary efforts would be needed to build a world that people want by turning the tide against the many challenges that undermine democracy, peace and development.
 

Chinese funding to help IPU support new development agenda

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has welcomed the decision by China to provide US$ 1.5 million in new funding to the Organization in its work to strengthen parliaments and better prepare them for the implementation of the new sustainable development agenda.
 
The funds will be mainly used to help develop the capacity of parliamentarians in developing countries to tackle the many challenges they face in fulfilling their role as legislators, representatives of their people and overseers of government.
 

Women Speakers of Parliament define agenda for equality within a generation

Female Speakers of Parliament from around the world have called for action on gender equality to be dramatically scaled up through collective action.
 
At the conclusion of a two-day meeting on “Innovating for gender equality” at UN Headquarters in New York, women Speakers underlined the strength of unity of thought and action as a powerful agent for change to achieve gender equality within one generation.
 

CPA Exco cancels 61st Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee, on Wednesday 19th August, 2015, cancelled the 61st Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) slated for Islamabad, Pakistan, from 29th September – 8th October, 2015.
This follows an emergency teleconference meeting of the Executive Committee convened to consider the Pakistan Branch’s refusal to invite the Jammu and Kashmir Branch to the conference.
