COURTESY CALL ON THE CLERK OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Staff of the Ghanaian Parliament paid a courtesy call on the Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia, Mrs Cecilia Mbewe on Monday, 13th November 2017, at Parliament Buildings.
Mrs Mbewe welcomed the Staff from Ghana who are on a study Visit to Zambia. The Clerk further gave the members of staff general information on the role and objectives of Parliament, the structure of the offices of the Chief Whip, Leader of Opposition, lines of communication between the leadership and staff of the National Assembly of Zambia as well as the practices and procedures of the Zambian Parliament.
Members of staff from the Ghanaian Parliament said unlike the Zambian Parliament which has 156 elected and 8 Nominated Members of Parliament, the  Ghanaian Parliament consists of 275 Members of Parliament. Out of these, 169 are from the Ruling Party and 106 are from the Opposition. and it has 31 committees. The Members of Staff further thanked the Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia for the informative discussion and for facilitating their meeting.
The Purpose of the study visit to Zambia is to share best practices and procedures of the National Assembly.
