SPEAKER LAUNCHES PARLY TV STUDIO

Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon Justice Dr Patrick Matibini, SC, MP on Wednesday, 21st February, 2018 launched the Parliament Television Studio at Parliament Buildings.
Speaking during the launch, Speaker Matibini said the ongoing Parliamentary reforms have incorporated Parliamentary communication and outreach with a desire to broadcast the Sessions of Parliament on both radio and television in order to keep the public informed on the work of Parliament.  He thanked the German Government for providing financial support towards the project and encouraged the Public to seize the opportunity by following the Parliamentary debates and Committee Meetings as they are broadcast by Parliament TV.
Meanwhile, German Ambassador to Zambia, His Excellency, Mr Achim Burkart said Germany had high interest in supporting its Zambian Partners to systematically follow a path of good governance, transparency and accountability.  He reiterated that Parliament had a key role in building a block of checks and balances.  Mr Burkart added that a State-of-the-art and professional broadcasting of parliamentary debates will make the Zambian population gain a better understanding of the functions and work of the Parliament.
The equipment that was launched under the Programme “Strengthening Parliamentary Control” by the German Government includes HD Cameras, a video server, a complete archive system with media management, a teleprompter, new cabling, installation and training of parliament staff at a value of about 530, 0000 EURO including.
