The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Africa Region (CPA-AR) on Saturday 5^th October, 2024, voted unanimously to endorse and support the candidature of Dr Christopher Kalila, Zambian Parliamentarian, for the highest elective office of Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the CPA.

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia Hon. Nelly Butete Kashumba Mutti, SC, MP, FAPRA has called on the private sector and cooperating partners to compliment government efforts in addressing the attendant gaps which still existed in the education sector.

The Nelly Mutti Foundation in partnership with Huawei Zambia and Health Learners, yesterday made a donation of 5000 sanitary towels to girls from various schools in Kabwe Central Constituency in Kabwe District.  

The National Assembly of Zambia held a training workshop for Members of Parliament on Sector Budget Analysis. The occasion, which was graced by the Government Chief Whip, Honorable Stafford Mulusa, MP, witnessed a huge turnout of Members of Parliament who were keen to learn this new concept of Sector Budget Analysis.

Members of Parliament have been encouraged to leverage their legislative, budgeting and oversight role by enacting impactful policies and allocate resources for sustainable food system transformation. This was during a workshop organized by the National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC) with support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). 
The one and half day workshop was held at Chita Lodge in Kafue from Saturday, 21st to Sunday 22nd September, 2024.

Ms Chonya, MP, is representing the Rt Honourable Speaker, Ms Nelly B K Mutti, SC, MP, FAPRA, at the Conference of Speakers of African Parliaments which is taking place in Midrand, South Africa, alongside the Committee Session of the Pan African Parliament.

K Mutti, SC, MP, FAPRA says that International cooperation is the panacea to translate Parliament’s efforts into concrete policy actions by Governments on international best practices on advancing women’s participation in decision-making.

The National Assembly of Zambia has taken a significant step towards enhancing its budget oversight role by training selected staff from various departments on sector budget analysis, annual borrowing plans and gender-responsive budgeting. The workshop held from 19^th to 23^rd August 2024 at Golden Sonnets Hotel in Kabwe, was organized in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR).
