The Speaker Urges Zambians to Participate in the Democratisation Processes of the Country

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Rt. Hon Justice Dr Patrick Matibini, SC, MP has urged Zambians to reflect on the various ways in which they can participate in the democratisation processes of the country.

Speaking at this year’s International Day of Democracy celebrations held at Parliament Buildings on Monday, 28th September 2015, Speaker Matibini reiterated the need for young people to be highly informed and active citizens in the dispensation of democracy.

The Celebrations which drew about 130 pupils from Lusaka based schools was commemorated under the theme “Public Participation for Democracy”. Activities included an essay writing competition and a presentation on democratic participation opportunities for a citizen that was presented by Hon Greyford Monde, MP.

Meanwhile, the youths were treated to some entertainment by three times Born and bred award winning Artist, Afunika and his dancing group.
