ACSZ Donates SHOWTIME to the National Assembly Library
The Agricultural and Commercial Society of Zambia (ACSZ) donated Ten (10) copies of the second edition of the book titled ‘Showtime’ to the Parliamentary Information and Research Library on 25th January 2024 at Parliament Buildings. The ACSZ was represented by the President Dr. Bernard Moonga, Vice President Mr. Rene Lourens and Administrative Staff of the Society. Speaking during the handover ceremony of the book, Dr. Moonga gave a brief historical background of the Show Society, highlighting how it had evolved over the years. He stated that the Show Society, which started as a group of farmers coming together to showcase their produce, had now grown into a Commercial Show that attracts players from various sectors of the economy both local and international coming to showcase their products and services. Dr. Moonga expressed his delight that the Society was donating to the National Assembly Library a book which traces its history from inception to its 80th Show in 2006 and was hopeful that the book would add value to the library and make a positive impact on the readers.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the National Assembly Management was the Deputy Clerk in charge of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Stephen Kawimbe. In his remarks, Mr. Kawimbe expressed his gratitude to the Show Society for donating a book which documents a rich history and stated that the book would be a good addition to the library collection. He further stated that he was looking forward to more collaborative ventures with the Society in view of the fact that the National Assembly had started exhibiting at the Agricultural and Commercial Show. Speaking at the same event, the Director (Library Services), Ms Chama Mfula indicated that the Library would ensure that the donated book features as the ‘Book of the Month’ for the month of February 2024 as a way of raising awareness of its availability to Members of Parliament and Staff of the National Assembly.
