IPU condemns threats to parliamentary democracy

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) expressed serious concerns about the scale and type of alleged human rights violations of parliamentarians in Cambodia, the Maldives, Turkey and Venezuela with the effect of jeopardizing parliamentary democracy in these countries.

Young MPs from Asia-Pacific join efforts to tackle violent extremism

More than 50 young parliamentarians from Asia-Pacific countries have gathered in Sri Lanka today and tomorrow to discuss their role in advancing inclusive and peaceful societies and preventing violent extremism in the region.
 
In recent years, the world has witnessed new waves of violent extremism that have threatened the security and stability of societies across the world. This is a growing concern for the security of the Asia-Pacific region.
 

The IPU condemns the Israeli “Regulation Law” and calls for its abolition

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on Wednesday April 5th, 2017, unanimously condemned the legitimization of the settlement by the so called “Regulation Law” and called for the repeal of this law. The law violates international law and constitutes a great danger and negatively affects the peace process in the Middle East, Internationally, namely the achievement of a two-state solution.
