The National Assembly of Zambia which is participating at the 91st Agriculture and Commercial Show under theme “Promoting a Green Economy” was yesterday (Thursday, 3rd August, 2017) visited by madam First Lady Mrs. Ester Lungu. Madam First Lady who was received by the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Mrs Cecilia Mbewe was impressed with Parliament exhibiting at the show urged the legislators to enact the legislation on the age of when one can get into marriages in Zambia.

Hon Mwimba Malama, MP, Second Deputy Speaker, is leading a Delegation at the 16th Commonwealth Speakers’ and Presiding Officers Conference, which was officially, opened by His Excellency the Acting President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo at the ECOWAS Parliament Buildings in Abuja, Nigeria on Tuesday 25th July, 2017.

The theme for the Conference is, “The Presiding Officers in a Changing Society.” The conference has attracted delegates who are expected to discuss the following various topics:

MAHE, SEYCHELLES - Delegates to the first ever Women’s Parliament which ended here on July 6 2017 have called for sustained engagement over issues dealt with during the Parliament.
    The SADC Parliamentary Forum, the Regional Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (RWPC) and other cooperation partners, notably ARASA, organized the Women’s Parliament, which sought to rally female Members of Parliament around Resolution 60/2 on the status of Women, Children and the Girl Child. Resolution 60/2 seeks to end HIV infection among women and girls.
