Safeguard Peace and Drive Positive Democratic Change through Political Dialogue – Speaker Matibini urges MPs

Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Patrick Matibini, SC, MP has called on Members of Parliament to embrace the ideals and principles of the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) which include safeguarding peace and driving positive democratic change through political dialogue and concrete action.

The Hon Speaker signed a book of condolences on Wednesday 14th June 2018 at the funeral house of the late Victoria Kalima, former Minister of Gender and Member of Parliament for Kasenengwa Constituency in Eastern Province.

Parliament Bids Farewell to Late Hon. Victoria Kalima

On Saturday 16th June, 2018, parliamentarians joined the rest of the country in bidding farewell to Hon. Victoria Kalima who died at Maina Soko Hospital on Monday 11th June, 2018. MPs from both the ruling party and the opposition turned up in numbers during the burial ceremony of the late Minister of Gender who was put to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park.

The CPA Post-Election Seminar in Charlestown, Nevis is held to enable current and recently elected Parliamentarians to gain a broader understanding of the principles of parliamentary democracy and strengthen their skillsets.

Parliamentarians pledge to fight for female inmates


Members of Parliament have pledged to fight for the rights of the female inmates at Mukobeko Correctional facility in Kabwe.  Delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the Parliamentarians, on Wednesday, 25th April, 2018, Member of Parliament for Kanyama Constituency, Mrs Elizabeth Phiri said much has to be done to improve the sanitation at the facility.

OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE 4th CPA AFRICA REGION YOUTH PARLIAMENT HELD AT AFRICANA HOTEL IN KAMPALA, UGANDA FROM 14TH TO 19TH APRIL, 2018.

The 4th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region Youth Parliament was held at Africana Hotel in Kampala, Uganda from 14th to 19th April, 2018 under the theme, “Securing a better future for Africa: Role of the youth”. The term of the Youth Parliament is two (2) years. The current Youth Parliament was sworn in during the 3rd Youth Parliament held in Lusaka, Zambia, in 2014 and its term ends at the 4th Youth Parliament which is being held in Kampala, Uganda.
