Speaker Matibini Says Covid19 Vaccine will Reduce Pressure on Health Facilities

Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Right Honourable Justice Dr. Patrick Matibini, SC, FCIArb, MP today, Wednesday 30th June, 2021 took his second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid19, at the National Assembly Clinic. Speaking after receiving his second dose, Speaker Matibini said that during the period between the first and second dose, he has enjoyed good health and therefore, encouraged members of the public to ensure they get vaccinated.

He also said that although the vaccine doesn’t prevent one from getting infected with the Covid19 virus, the vaccine mitigates its impact, adding that the impact of the Covid19 virus on persons that have been vaccinated is milder. He further said that the more members of the public are vaccinated, the less pressure there will be on health facilities as those that would have been vaccinated would not need to be hospitalized or put on oxygen machines in the event that they got infected rather, they would be treated in a more cost effective manner.

Speaker Matibini further urged the public to corporate with the authorities stating that they are doing a commendable job in effectively sending out sensitization messages.
