Parliament Precincts Fumigated

The precincts of Parliament have today Monday, 20th July, 2020 been fumigated in an effort to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus. The fumigation exercise was conducted by the Association of the Indian Community in Zambia following a request from the Ministry of Health to fumigate the institution of Parliament. 

Speaking during the fumigation exercise, Head of Public and International Relations and Parliamentary Media Liaison Officer, Mr. Stephen Kawimbe expressed gratitude on behalf of the National Assembly to the Association of the Indian Community in Zambia for their response and timely act of fumigating the precincts of Parliament.

Board Member of the Association of the Indian Community in Zambia, Mr. Ismail Khankhara who led the fumigating team stated that the Indian Community has so far raised about seven hundred thousand kwacha (K 700, 000) to purchase fumigation materials in order to conduct fumigation exercises in various public locations. He added that the fumigation exercises are being conducted on request and at no charge at all.

The fumigation exercise at Parliament Buildings covered most of the precincts of Parliament including the Chamber, New and Old Committee Buildings which are being used as extra meeting rooms during Parliamentary Sittings, Offices and the surroundings.
