Hon Catherine Namugala, MP, First Deputy Speaker officially handed over a Recording and Public Address System to the House of Chiefs on Monday 10th December, 2018. The Equipment was donated by the National Assembly of Zambia to the House of Chiefs as part of collaboration between the two Houses. The Hon First Deputy Speaker appealed to their Royal Highnesses, the Chiefs to continue to work closely with the National Assembly, that host the Honorable Members of Parliament who come from their Chiefdoms.
Prior to the hand over, Senior Chief Inyambo Yeta, Chairperson of the House of Chiefs thanked the Hon Mr Speaker, the Hon Madam First Deputy Speaker and the National Assembly of Zambia for the donation. He added that the equipment would enhance communication in the House and recording of proceedings in the House of Chiefs.
Hon Lawrence Sichalwe, MP, Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs in his speech also appreciated the gesture of the donation and reiterated the need to continue cementing collaboration between the National Assembly and the House of Chiefs.
In a vote of thanks to the Hon First Deputy Speaker and the Hon Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs, Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Muweza from Itezhitezhi, thanked the National Assembly of Zambia for the donation which replaced the obsolete public address system that was in the House of Chiefs.She also thanked the Hon Minister for the support from the Ministry in collaborating with the National Assembly to ensure that the equipment was finally installed.
