Diplomats say “Ayes” to Parliamentarians

Parliamentarians on Friday, 2nd November, 2018 beat the Diplomats accredited to Zambia to a tune of 9-6 in netball and 2-0 football in the Independence Day celebrations tournament organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development.

The Parliamentarians who last year suffered a landmark defeat against the diplomats exhibited high level skill as they turned their opponents’ nets into “Ayes” for their attacks.  Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Hon Mwimba Malama who featured in the football team was brought down by an opponent in the second half resulting in a penalty that he converted into a goal, putting the parliamentarians ahead with a resounding 2-0.

The diplomats who mounted pressure towards the end of the match could not convert their attempts into goals as the parliamentarians aggressively echoed their “Noes” through the goal keeper.

On the other hand, the female diplomats were no match to the parliamentarians in netball, as the likes of Ms Given Katuta and Mrs Maria Langa mounted pressure resulting in them carrying the day after killing the temporal lead by the diplomats.

Hon Malama who graced the occasion thanked the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development for organising the tournament and urged citizens to participate in sport and physical fitness activities in order to promote a healthy lifestyle and increase productivity in the nation.
