PRESIDENT LUNGU HONOURS NAZ STAFF WITH INSIGNIA OF MERCY

The President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu on Wednesday, 24th October, 2018 honoured Mr Augustine Mwila, an employee of the National Assembly of Zambia, with the President’s Insignia of Mercy.
Mr Mwila, who was honoured at State House, during the Independence Day Celebrations, was awarded for showing compassion in August, 2016, when he came to the aid and rescue of eleven (11) Police Officers who were involved in a road traffic accident along Choma-Namwala Road in Southern Province.  He rushed the Police Officers to the Hospital and also secured the police firearms and other belongings he found at the accident scene, which he later handed over to the Doctor in charge at Macha Hospital.
On the fateful day, Mr Mwila and his family were on their way to St Marks Secondary in Mapanza to visit his son and attend the school Annual General Meeting when he witnessed a police vehicle in front of them over turn after a tyre burst.  Mr Mwila together with his wife Mrs Winnie Bwalya Mwila abandoned their mission to the school and assisted the officers onto their vehicle before rushing them to Macha Mission Hospital.
Mr Mwila has been praised for being patriotic and going out of his way to rescue the accident victims and secure state property.
