MAKE USE OF YOUR CONSTITUENCY OFFICE AS A LINK WITH YOUR REPRESENTATIVES

Mpika Central Member of Parliament and Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Hon. Sylvia Chalikosa has called on residents of her Constituency to use the Constituency Office as a link between her and themselves. She said this in her welcoming remarks at the Road and Mounted show organised by the National Assembly of Zambia at Musakanya market in Mpika on Saturday, 21st April 2018.
Hon Chalikosa urged the residents to take advantage of the office to share developmental ideas and needs through the office which is easily accessible as opposed to traveling to Lusaka or waiting for her visits to the area. She stressed that the office is her 'eyes and ears' to the needs of the people of Mpika as she has other competing responsibilities away from the constituency.
A team of members of staff from the National Assembly of Zambia visited three constituencies namely; Kanchibiya, Mfuwe and Mpika Central in Muchinga Province on Friday 20th April and Saturday 21st April 2018 to execute the Road and Mounted shows.
Muchinga was the only province that had not been covered under the National Assembly Outreach programme, aimed at taking Parliament closer to the people.  The mounted shows were held at Mpepo market in Kanchibiya constituency and Katibunga Secondary School in Mfuwe constituency on Friday 20th April 2018 and Saturday 21st April 2018, at Musakanya market in Mpika Central constituency.
The shows are always characterised by presentations, feedback in form of questions from staff and the audience, distribution of materials with parliamentary information and entertainment by the National Assembly Road and Mounted Shows Ambassador, Frank Chirwa, alias Afunika who is always equal to the task in disseminating information on Parliament and spicing the event with some entertainment.
The Road and Mounted shows with the support of the Irish Aid, are centered on five key presentations namely; Functions of the National Assembly, Role of the Member of Parliament, Role of the Constituency Office, the Committee System in the National Assembly and available opportunities for public participation in the works of the National Assembly.
Constituencies that have benefitted from this ongoing programme in the past are; Chasefu and Sinda in Eastern province, Lufwanyama and Masaiti on the Copperbelt province, Lukashya in Northern province, Katombola in Southern province, Lufubu in Central province, Chembe in Luapula province, Ikeleng'i in North-Western province, Sioma and Nkeyema in Western province and Chongwe, Levy Mall and NIPA  in Lusaka province.
The next beneficiary is Chirundu Constituency, in Lusaka province.
