PACKAGE SUSTAINABLE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECTS-MWIMBA MALAMA ADVISES REA

Second Deputy of the National Assembly of Zambia,  Hon Mwimba Malama, MP has advised the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) to come up with resolutions that will provide significant input in packaging sustainable rural electrification projects under the Rural Electrification program.
Speaking on Thursday, 26th October 2017, when he opened a half day symposium for Members of Parliament at Parliament Buildings, on the Rural Electrification Programme, Hon Malama mentioned that it would  benefit all key stakeholders to contribute to the improvement of the quality of lives of the rural masses.
Hon Malama stateded that it was anticipated that once this programme was implemented, the Zambia Information and Communication Technology would deliver the much needed information communication technology infrastructure in our rural schools.  He said that this would go a long way in improving the quality of lives of people in rural areas.
Speaking earlier, Minister of Energy, Hon David Mabumba disclosed that REA had embarked on a programme to formulate a 7,000 kilometer Grid Extension Programme for rural areas in Zambia.  He said that it was envisaged that this project would be of benefit to rural households, schools, health centres, business ventures and chiefs’ palaces under the Rural Electrification Programme.
The Symposium was attended by Members of Parliament from various Political parties, the Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Electrification Authority and his staff; and staff from the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO).
