First Deputy Speaker applauds Chinese Government for support to Zambian Parliament

The First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, Hon Catherine Namugala, MP has applauded the Chinese Government for its support to the National Assembly of Zambia. She said this when the Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) for Guangdong Province, His Excellency, Hon Wang Rong paid a courtesy call on her at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, 17th August 2017.

 

Hon Namugala said that Zambia and China have enjoyed warm and coordinal relations since Zambia’s pre-independence days and that these relations have further been cemented by increased cooperation and high level bilateral exchange visits between the legislatures of the two countries.  

She mentioned that China’s commitment to strengthen parliamentary relations with Zambia has been demonstrated in the construction of the Media and Visitor’s Centre, donation of various office equipment such as desktop computers, laptops, printers and scanners and support to the expansion of the coverage of Parliament Radio. 

In response, His Excellency, Hon Wang Rong informed the First Deputy Speaker that the purpose of his visit to Zambia was to explore further areas and potential for cooperation between Zambia and China in Lusaka Province. He stated that Zambia and China should look more into the future to further strengthen the already existing long standing relations between the two countries.  

His Excellency, Hon Wang Rong who arrived in the country on Wednesday, 16th August, 2017 is leading a delegation from the CPPCC, Guangdong Province on a two days visit to Zambia.  

Others in attendance during the courtesy call were the Minister of Lusaka Province, Hon J Mwakalombe, MP, officials from the Chinese Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
