PARLEY DATES LUFUBU

Newly created Lufubu Constituency was treated to hive of activities on Saturday, 22nd April, 2017.  The National Assembly under its Reform Praogramme dubbed “taking Parliament closer to the people” conducted a road show aimed at sensitizing the constituents on the Constituency office and the work of the National Assembly.

Addressing the constituents, Ms Monica Sampa, Deputy Principal Clerk of the Committees Department at the National Assembly said it is important that the constituents take an active role in the work of the National Assembly.  She added that the National Assembly has therefore, embarked on reinforcing its communication with the citizenry, especially those in rural areas that seemingly have limited access to information on the work and operations of the National Assembly.  Ms Sampa reiterated the need for the constituents to actively engage their area Member of Parliament and the National Assembly through the constituency office.

The Road Show was characterized with presentations on the Role of a Member of Parliament and the constituency office, the Committee system and public participation opportunities.  The National Assembly team also took time interacting with the local community and attending to their questions.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Road Show Brand Ambassador Frank Chirwa (Afunika) took the people of Lufubu by storm as he rendered a spectacular performance to spice the event.  Afunika, in his usual “free to mingle” stance encouraged the thrilled constituents to own the constituency office.

The National Assembly under its Communication Strategy has scheduled to hold three (03) other Road Shows this year in Chembe, Ikeleng’i and Sioma.
