Parley sensitises and ‘rocks’ Kasama residents.

The National Assembly of Zambia conducted a sensitization Road Show in Lukashya Constituency in Kasama on Saturday, 16th May 2015.  Speaking at the Road Show, Team Leader and Deputy Chief Librarian, Mrs Muswa Suuya, said the National Assembly has embarked on a campaign to enlighten Constituents on the roles and functions of the National Assembly with emphasis on the role of Members of Parliament and Constituency Offices.

She added that with this knowledge, Constituents would adequately utilize the opportunities of participating in the dispensation of democracy through established structures and mechanisms such as Constituency Offices and Members of Parliament.

And speaking at the same function, the Deputy Principal Clerk of Committees, Ms Monica Sampa urged the Constituents to participate in the work of the Committees of the National Assembly.  She added that, under the Parliamentary Reform Programme, the National Assembly had relaxed rules for members of the public to participate in its work.   She emphasized the need for constituents to participate in Public Hearings conducted by National Assembly Committees, which are usually advertised to the members of the public through the media.

Meanwhile, Kasama residents were thrilled at the presence of famous musician Afunika.  Afunika who displayed a splendid dual with musician Kanawa Kawizo sensitized the Kasama residents on the work of the National Assembly and Constituency Office as he performed his hits.

The Road Show is part of the ongoing implementation of the National Assembly of Zambia Communication Strategy which aims to, among others, enlighten Constituents on the roles and functions of the National Assembly with emphasis on the role of Members of Parliament and Constituency Offices in order to bridge the gap between citizens and the National Assembly of Zambia.
