The Non Governmental Organisations Bill 2025
Parliamentary Period:
Fourth Session of the Thirteenth Assembly
The objects of this Bill are to—
(a) continue the existence of the office of the Registrar of Non-Governmental Organisations established as a department under the repealed Act and rename it as the Department of non-governmental organisations;
(b) provide for the functions of the Department of the nongovernmental organisations;
(c) provide for the registration, licensing and co-ordination of non-governmental organisations;
(d) continue the existence of the Zambia Congress of NonGovernmental Organisations and redefine its functions;
(e) continue the existence of the Council of Non-Governmental Organisations and redefine its functions;
(f) provide for the self regulation of non-governmental organisations;
(g) enhance the transparency, accountability and performance of non-governmental organisations;
(h) repeal and replace the Non-Governmental Organisations’ Act, 2009; and
(i) provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.
