UGANDAN PARLIAMENTARIANS PAY COURTESY CALL ON THE SECOND DEPUTY SPEAKER MOSES MOYO.

The Second Deputy Speaker, Honourable Moses Frank Moyo, MP, says that Zambia and Uganda will continue to grow the bilateral and parliamentary relations, and enhance the sharing of ideas and experiences, for the mutual development of the two Nations and Parliaments.
On the 3rd of July, 2024, a Delegation of six Members of Parliament from the Parliament of Uganda led by the Leader of the Opposition Hon Joel Ssenyonyi, MP, visited the National Assembly of Zambia on a benchmarking visit.
Speaking when the Delegation paid a Courtesy Call on him, Honorable Moses Frank Moyo, said Zambia and Uganda share a rich history and continue to enjoy warm parliamentary relations. He said that was evidenced by high level visits that have been undertaken by the leadership of the two Parliaments. Honorable Moyo who welcomed the Delegation to the National Assembly of Zambia expressed gratitude that the Parliament of Zambia and the Parliament of Uganda have continued to work together for the common good of the people.
The Delegation Leader from Uganda Hon Joel Ssenyonyi, MP was thankful for the warm reception given to his Delegation.
The visiting Delegation had the privilege to interact with both the Government Chief Whip, Hon Stafford Mulusa, MP, and the Leader of Opposition, Hon Robert Chabinga, MP. During these separate engagements, various issues were discussed, among them were how to conduct violent free politics and entrench democratic tenets that could encourage socio and economic growth in the two countries.
Government Chief Whip outlined to the Delegation some of the roles of the Chief Whip. He informed the delegation that some of the roles include ensuring there is a quorum in the House at all time. Additionally, the Government Chief Whip co-ordinates regularly with the Leader of the Opposition in the House to ensure parliamentary business runs smoothly.
The Leader of Opposition, Robert Chabinga, expressed happiness by the visitation of his counterpart Joel Ssenyonyi, Leader of Opposition from the Parliament of Uganda. The two leaders, shared knowledge on how to be effective opposition Members of Parliament. They also discussed ways of holding the government accountable.
In conclusion, the visiting Delegation, thanked the Leadership of the National Assembly of Zambia for finding time to meet them and share the best practices.
