QUESTION FOR ORAL ANSWER (STANDING ORDER 76)
339. Mr Emmanuel Banda (Muchinga) - to ask the Minister of Energy:
(a) whether the Government is aware that more than 2000 workers at manganese smelting plants in Serenje District are on the verge of losing jobs due to ZESCO Limited’s intention to cut power supply to the plants on 1st July, 2023; and
(b) if so, what urgent measures are being taken to prevent the job losses.
QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER (STANDING ORDER 74)
340. Mr Miyutu (Kalabo Central) - to ask the Minister of Community Development and Social Services:
(a) why males aged 35 years and above are not eligible for Government empowerment programmes that have been made available to women and youths; and
(b) what measures are being taken to ensure that the affected males are included in the empowerment programmmes.
341. Mr Elias Musonda (Chimbamilonga) - to ask the Minister of Energy:
(a) whether the Government has any plans to connect Nsama District to the national electricity grid;
(b) if so, when the plans will be implemented;
(c) what the estimated cost of the project is;
(d) what the estimated time frame for the completion of the project is; and
(e) if there are no such plans, why.
342. Mr Kamondo (Mufumbwe) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:
(a) how many mineral exploration licences were issued, countrywide, as of August, 2022;
(b) how many areas, countrywide, were under exploration, as of August, 2022;
(c) when mineral explorations were last conducted in the following districts:
(i) Mufumbwe; and
(ii) Kasempa;
(d) what the results of the explorations were; and
(e) how many mining licences were issued:
(i) following the explorations at (a); and
(ii) from 1968 to 2021.
343. Mr Kafwaya (Lunte) - to ask the Minister of Infrastructure,Housing and Urban Development when the construction of the Lukulu Bridge connecting Kanyanta and Kalungwishi Wards in Lunte Parliamentary Constituency will be completed.
