57. Mr Siwanzi (Nakonde) - to ask the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources:

 

(a) whether the Government is aware that the residents of Chiyanga and Katozi areas, in Nakonde District, who have built on the buffer zone along the Zambia/Tanzania border, have been given two months’ notice to demolish their structures and vacate the area;

 

(b) if so, whether the residents will be given alternative land for resettlement, considering that some of them have lived there since independence and have title deeds;

 

(c) whether there are any plans to compensate the residents before they are resettled; and

 

(d) whether or not the notice period is sufficient.
