QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER (STANDING ORDER 31)
358 Dr Chibanda (Mufulira) - to ask the Minister of Mines and Minerals Development:
(a) how many fatal accidents were recorded at the mines in the Copperbelt Province from 1st October, 2018 to 21st March, 2019;
(b) how many fatalities were recorded in the accidents;
(c) what the major causes of the accidents were;
(d) what measures have been taken by the Mines Safety Department to safeguard the lives of miners; and
(e) how often the Mines Safety Department inspects the mines to ensure adherence to safety standards.
359 Ms M Miti (Vubwi) - to ask the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock:
(a) whether the Government is aware that there is an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease in Vubwi and Lundazi Districts;
(b) if so, what urgent measures are being taken to combat the disease; and
(c) how many head of cattle died of the disease as of 28th March, 2019.
360 Mr Mweetwa (Choma Central) - to ask the Vice President:
(a) when the distribution of relief food to Choma and other districts in Southern Province, whose residents are on the verge of starvation due to drought, will commence; and
(b) which districts have been earmarked for distribution of the relief food.
361 Mr Kasandwe (Bangweulu) - to ask the Minister of Energy:
(a) whether the Government is aware that Samfya District is experiencing power outages, of up to four times a day, including strategic institutions such as health facilities and schools;
(b) if so, what the cause of the power outages is; and
(c) what urgent measures are being taken to avert loss of lives and households appliances.
362 Dr Kopulande (Chembe) - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs
(a) what the cause of the xenophobic attacks against other African nationals in South Africa is;
(b) how many African nationals have so far been affected by the xenophobic attacks;
(c) whether there are any Zambians affected by the attacks and, if so, how many;
(d) whether the Southern African Development Community and the African Union are taking any measures to eliminate the vice; and
(e) if so, what the measures are.
