218 Ms Kalima (Kasenengwa) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock:
(a) which companies were recently awarded contracts to supply about 42,000 tonnes of urea fertiliser for the 2013/2014 farming season;
(b) what criteria were used in awarding the contracts to the companies;
(c) why local companies with stocks of fertiliser were not contracted to supply the commodity; and
(d) why Eastern Province was left out of the distribution list for the locally sourced fertiliser.
219 Mr Mwila (Chipili) - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:
(a) when the Government will commence construction of the following infrastructure in the newly created Chipili District:
(i) civic centre;
(ii) high cost houses; and
(iii) council rest houses; and
(b) what the time-frame for construction of the above infrastructure is.
220 Mr Simbao (Senga Hill) - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock:
(a) how much it costs Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) to produce 1 kilogramme of compound D fertiliser;
(b) what the raw materials used in the manufacture of the fertiliser are;
(c) whether the materials are available locally;
(d) what other products NCZ manufactures; and
(e) whether the equipment at the plant is obsolete.
