Report of the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to scrutinise the Presidential Appointment of Mr Mudford Zachariah Mwandenga to Serve as Chairperson, Mrs Kondwa Emily Sakala-Chibiya to serve as Vice-Chairperson, and Mr Fred Wamundila Waliuya, Dr Harrington Simui Akombwa and Mr Ackson Mhlakeni Zulu to serve as Commissioners of the Human Rights Commission (16.02.16) (Mr Kapeya, MP)

  1. Announcement by Mr Speaker, - Mr Speaker informed the House that in the absence of Her Honour the Vice President, who was attending to other important Government Business, Hon Dr Ngosa Simbyakula, MP, Minister of Justice, had been appointed Acting Leader of Government Business in the House from Wednesday, 17th February, 2016, until further notice.
  2. Ministerial Statement, - The Minister of Home Affairs made a statement on the violence that occurred on Saturday, 13th February, 2016, in Bweengwa, Southern Province arising from a Point of Order raised by the Hon Member for Kapiri Mposhi, Mr E Musonda, MP, on Tuesday, 16th February, 2016 and briefed the House on the violence as well as measures taken to bring the culprits to book.
  3. The House considered Questions for Oral Answer Nos. 292 – 301.
  4. The House Noted Question for Written Answer No. W13, and the reply was accordingly recorded in the Daily Parliamentary Debates.
  5. Amend the Public Order Act, - Motion Made and Question Proposed, That this House urges the Government to amend the Public Order Act, Chapter 113 of the Laws of Zambia to align it with the Bill of Rights. – (Mr Mweetwa, MP)
