QUESTIONS FOR ORAL ANSWER

35 Dr Kalumba - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) what has been the incidence of syphilis relative to the incidence of HIV infection country-wide from 1994 to 2004; and

(b) how effective and by how much has the national immunization programme country-wide influenced the reduction in morbidity and mortality rates from malnutrition in children aged below 5 years from 1980 to 1990 and from 1990 to 2000.

36 Dr Kalumba - to ask the Minister of Foreign Affairs when Zambia will table
the issue of the Luchinda - Pweto enclave boundary on the Joint Zambia - DRC Permanent Commission agenda.

37 Mr Sikota - to ask the Minister of Health:

(a) whether the Government has made efforts to import a fresh supply of Anti-Retroviral Drugs (ARV’s) to replace the consignment that expired on 1st July, 2005 and, if so, when will these come into the country;

(b) what will be the cost of the new consignment and in what quantities;

(c) what tender procedures will be used for the importation of
ARV’s; and

(d) what measures the Government has taken to ensure that
the new consignment does not expire before it is dispensed to patients.{mospagebreak}

38 Mr Sikota - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) what measures has the Government taken to ensure that all
schools in Livingstone District have adequate and clean water supplies and good sanitation facilities; and

(b) how many schools by name, in the district have inadequate water supply and poor sanitation facilities.

39 Mr Moonde - to ask the Minister of Labour and Social Security what
measures has the Government taken to minimise the employment of casual workers in the country.

40 Mr I M Phiri - to ask the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General:

(a) how much money was allocated for the rehabilitation of
court buildings and residences of the Presiding Justice and the Court Messenger at Chief Msoro Local Court in Malambo; and

(b) when will the works begin and, if not, why.

41 Mr P G Phiri - to ask the Vice-President whether the Government has any
plans to review the retirees’ benefits upwards considering the rising prices of essential commodities.

42 Mr Sichinga - to ask the Minister of Home Affairs:

(a) why the Zambia Police Force provided police officers to the
2005 MMD Party Convention held in Kabwe;

(b) whether the Zambia Police Force provides officers when other political parties hold their conventions;

(c) how much did the attendance of these police officers to the
convention cost the taxpayer in salaries and allowances paid to the officers; and
(d) what was the total size of the Zambia Police Force contingent which attended the convention.

43 Mr Kalunga - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing
whether the Government has any immediate plans to construct lanes for cyclists in Lusaka.{mospagebreak}

44 Mr Kalunga - to ask the Minister of Education:

(a) what measures has the Government taken to ensure that teachers posted to rural areas are properly accommodated; and

(b) how many houses were built for teachers in Serenje District from January, 2003 to August, 2005, constituency by constituency.

45 Mr Moonde - to ask the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General:

(a) how many magistrates and local court justices are employed by the Government; and

(b) what is the full establishment of those at (b) above.

46 Mr Moonde - to ask the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Natural
Resources:

(a) what measures has the Government taken to ensure that adequate funds are sourced for the Visit Zambia 2005 Campaign;

(b) how many tourists visited the country between January and June, 2005; and

(c) how much money was raised in the period above.

47 Mr Shemena - to ask the Minister of Education whether the Government
has any plans to construct an agricultural college in Solwezi.

48 Mr Nsanda - to ask the Minister of Local Government and Housing:

(a) what happened to the marketeers who occupied the space where the burnt market along Buseko Avenue in Ndola was; and

(b) what plans the Ministry has for the space at (a) above.

49 Mr Moonde - to ask the Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives what is
the current position regarding the procurement of agricultural inputs for the 2005/2006 farming season.
